Creative Tips on Managing Stress for Women

Stress! You probably have too much of it if you are a modern woman. But in looking at stress management, women sometimes make it into more of a glum task than a break.

Try to bring some creativity into your stress management by finding new things to do that can help you have more fun, relax, and enjoy life.

3 Ideas to Support Stress Management for Women

Modern life can be incredibly stressful, especially for women. Considering adding some creative stress management techniques like the following to lighten things up once in awhile:

1. Turn Your Chores into Stress Busters

First, you might not have it in your budget to hire a maid every week, but you could get a cleaning service once in a while. This can help reduce the amount of cleaning you need to do and make your everyday cleaning that much easier.

For the rest of the time, consider using your time cleaning as a way to actually reduce stress. This might sound strange until you consider all the creative ways you can actually do a workout while you clean.

For example, if you need to clean the kitchen floor, get some rags and skate on them! Work out your abs while vacuuming!

This method of “Taskercise” was popularized by weight loss coach Carolyn Barnes, author of the cLEAN momma workout.

2. Set Aside a Weekend to Binge-Watch Your Favorite TV Show

Seriously! We formally give you permission to (once in a long while) take a break from your life and binge-watch your most addicting television show. Try to get the support and help from your family to do this, and just allow yourself to relax during this time.

While you don’t want to use television as a daily time suck or addiction, having a planned once-in-a-while binge can be therapeutic. Exploring another world for a while can help you detach from your own problems, and when you are done, you can view your life from fresh eyes.

You don’t have to just binge-watch TV shows. Movie series can also work. (The author has a yearly Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit binge-watching day each New Year’s.) You can even get friends to join you if you like.

3. Plan a Spa Day or An Adventure Day

Depending on what floats your boat, you may want to spend a nice relaxing day at the spa, getting massages and facials, or you might want to do something more active. Perhaps you want to try rock climbing, or kite surfing, or a slightly less strenuous standup paddleboard session around a quiet lake.

Choose an activity to do once in a while so you can get a day away from your troubles. Sometimes, these are fun to do by yourself, and at other times, it’s great to include a friend.

Be Creative with Your Stress Management

Stress management doesn’t need to be serious. As an empowered woman, you can make stress management fun. Try to bring a little more play and levity into your life. While you may or may not agree with the statement “you only live once,” you might as well enjoy yourself while you are here.
